NICOLA WINTER AS CRISIS ADVISOR

Even though I was 5 cm short of pilot training at Lufthansa, I have found my greatness as a fighter pilot, aerospace engineer and as a manager. Already in my career in the Air Force, I was a flight instructor and experienced for the first time how much joy it gives me to pass on my knowledge and experience to others.

Today, I share my expertise on the topics of leadership and teamwork, crisis management in companies and employee motivation as a speaker and I am a lecturer for crisis and emergency management.

In 2022 I made it into the ESA‘s astronaut reserve and dream of flying into space. But the destination could also be the moon or mars. A lofty goal for many – but within my grasp. Because if there’s one thing I know, it’s that no goal is too high if you have the right attitude, the knowledge and the techniques to achieve it.

Due to my experience in strategy consulting at McKinsey & Company, I know the challenges and needs of companies. Often a keynote speech serves as a new impulse and sparks motivation. But in order to bring about long-term changes or to be confidently prepared for crises and changes, more intensive exchanges are often needed.

That is  why I also work as a consultant and help managers and employees to achieve their personal goals and position the company for the future.

CRISIS CONSULTING

I learned crisis and risk management in fighter jets, determination and empowerment in officer training and how to lead empathetically in the rescue service. I didn't just read about my knowledge, I experienced it. And now I want to pass it on.

Any company can suddenly be hit by a crisis - be it a fire in production or the outbreak of a pandemic. It is important to act quickly in an emergency and to act safely. It is my job to provide companies' crisis teams with this security. Those responsible should know how to behave in a crisis, how to communicate and how to manage the rest of the company.

Strong in a crisis - that's why I offer my advice to companies.

“AS A CONSULTANT, I CAN PASS ON ALL MY EXPERIENCES AND KNOWLEDGE AND ALSO CONVINCE OTHERS THAT NO GOAL IS TOO BIG.”

WHO IS CRISIS ADVICE SUITABLE FOR?

My crisis advice is for every company that already has an internal crisis team or is in the process of setting up a crisis team.

Unexpected things often happen: Ultimately, any company can be hit by crises. It is essential to protect yourself in advance and set up a crisis team that can keep a cool head in an emergency.

HOW DOES CRISIS ADVICE WORK?

  • Online or on site

  • In small groups or with the entire company

First, I have a preliminary discussion about the status quo to get an idea of the current situation. I then organize and lead crisis workshops: either in small groups, alone with the responsible crisis team or with the entire company of 1,000 employees.

During the workshop we discuss possible emergencies and distribute tasks: Who is responsible for the evacuation? Who informs the fire brigade and police?

The aim of crisis counseling is for everyone to know their place if a crisis actually occurs
